UBIQUITY is the result of a collaboration between Isabelle Jonniaux | IN VIVO 5.12 (Be), Emmanuelle Raynaut | Arep. Compagnie (Fr), and Maud Clavier - VR Creator. These three project initiators met through the Chimères program. The project carries within it a hybridization induced by the intersection of their practices and cultural approaches.
UBIQUITY refers to the ability to be present in several places at once. This concept is the starting point for an immersive, participatory performance at the crossroads of staged writing, movement, and virtual reality. Conceived as a festive ceremony, the audience attends a choreographic performance carried by five dancers, within which a sensory dive into virtual reality is offered to participants.
In a pop-apocalyptic atmosphere, participants are invited to quite literally dance on the ruins of a transforming world. Equipped with VR headsets, they explore collapsed worlds where each gesture revives fragments of life. Their movements, guided by virtual reality, become choreographic material; they enter a composition that the dancers support, complete, amplify, and ritualize. A collective, hybrid, and plural body emerges, driven by the energy of a live DJ.
Dance becomes a shared language — a joyful contagion, a breath of celebration, trance, and identity reinvention. Scenes unfold in a flow of dance, music, virtual immersion, and rhythmic escalation. At the end of this contagious journey, everyone gathers in a form of liberating celebration, a joyful and inclusive trance, reminiscent of a carnival.
One question runs throughout the piece: how can we form a collective body within a fractured world? How can we reinvent connection, resistance, and community in the digital age? Without claiming to offer an answer, the performance invites us to experience these questions — through sensation, through shared movement and embodied presence, through a collective impulse.
