Leslie Mannès | asbl Hirschkuh
Leslie Mannès' creations take place mainly on stage, but also sometimes explore other relationships with audiences through collaborative approaches.
Leslie Mannès is a graduate of P.A.R.T.S (Brussels - 1st cycle), SEAD (Salzburg) and the Master in Performing Arts - ULB (Brussels).
She has been developing her choreographic work since 2005. Her creations take place mainly on stage, but also explore other relationships with audiences in participatory settings.
From 2015 to 2023, she collaborated with composer Thomas Turine and lighting designer Vincent Lemaître. Together, they developed a shared approach to body, sound and light, and ventured into the invention of new rituals, seeking to provoke powerful, liberating sensory experiences for the spectator. They have created the shows RITUELS DU DÉSORDRE(2022), FORCES (2019) and ATOMIC 3001 (2016).
From 2012 to 2020, she co-directed the System Failure company with Louise Baduel. They created a trilogy of choreographic and theatrical performances around the relationship to new technologies: INITIAL ANOMALY (2019), HUMAN DECISION (2015) and SYSTEM FAILURE (2013).
From 2011 to 2016, she collaborated with the Entreprise d'Optimisation du Réel on the creation of the OPTIMUM PARK project, a participatory technological device that gamely questioned the place of the individual in a system.
From 2006 to 2013, with Manon Santkin and Jennifer Defays, she developed the evolving transdisciplinary project BY-PRODUCT around the relationship between body and clothing.
Previously, she created the shows ... ou la brune qui adorait les sardines à l'huile (2010), a choreographic-police performance that played on the codes of fiction, and Delusive Figures (2006), a short form about the body and its representations.
She has performed for Cie Mossoux- Bonté, Ayelen Parolin, Maxence Rey, Ingrid von Wantoch Rekowski and directors Patricia Gelise and Nicolas Deschuyteneer.
Leslie Mannès will be associate artist with the Varia theater from 2024 to 2028.
Her next stage creation SOUS LE VOLCAN (2024) will continue to investigate rites and rituals in a quest for new cooperation and collective narratives.
Her research into new folklores is also reflected in a number of in-situ participatory creations, notably as part of the Charleroi Carnival in partnership with Charleroi-danse.
